After studying computer science, Prof. Dr. Philipp Fürnstahl completed his PhD at ETH Zurich in the field of computer-assisted surgery. Since 2012, he has led the research group for computer-assisted surgery at the Balgrist University Hospital. In 2018, the University of Zurich awarded him the Venia legendi in orthopedic research, followed in February 2020 by a professorship in the field of research for computer-assisted interventions in orthopedics. Prof. Fürnstahl has more than 150 publications in the field of computer-assisted surgery and is also the developer of several medical devices that are successfully used in patient treatment.
